ABOUT WILLIAM
MEET THE MEMPHIS STRANGLER.
William Montgomery.
Stand-up comedian.
A little hard to explain.
The Memphis Strangler, The Big Red Machine, and The Vanilla Gorilla are all nicknames for William Montgomery—the stand-up comedian from Memphis, Tennessee, now based in Austin, Texas. Same William. Three very different entrances.
Known for deadpan one-liners, bizarre stories, and appearances on Kill Tony, he brings a stage presence you won’t mistake for anyone else.
His act moves between short jokes, absurd stories, crowd exchanges, and sudden bursts of energy. The nicknames are part of that larger-than-life stage persona: a comedian who can turn a quiet setup into an unpredictable conversation with the room.
Beyond Kill Tony, his career includes touring appearances with Tony Hinchcliffe and Duncan Trussell, comedy festivals, and an appearance in Showtime’s The Comedy Store documentary. The William Montgomery Show gives fans another place to explore his comedy, with its podcast archive available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
This independent fan site brings his upcoming dates and viewing links together. For tickets and show updates, head to William’s page on Punchup.
